Sweden: New road wear tax for heavy vehicles postponed once again
ATL, 26 Feb 2017, online:-
The Swedish government's investigation concerning a kilometre tax for hauliers, with a possible exclusion for heavy vehicles in the forest industry and certain rural areas, will be postponed further. The government's conclusion is that the current proposal risks deteriorating competitiveness among heavy truck drivers and a proposal will therefore not be presented on 28 February as planned, according to Sweden's Minister for Finance Magdalena Andersson. The government will now start working on revising the proposal. The government's goal is to develop a geographically differentiated tax but it is complicated, Minister for the Environment Karolina Skog says.
