Sweden: New work stoppage at the Port of Gothenburg
Dagens Industri, 23 Jan 2017, online:-
The Swedish Dockworkers Union (Svenska Hamnarbetarförbundet) has announced that it has chosen to decline the proposal from Swedish port operator APM Terminals. This means that its Section 4 will commence with a work stoppage at the Port of Gothenburg. Joakim Ärlund, CEO of Swedish trade association the Ports of Sweden (Sveriges Hamnar), states that the numerous conflicts rising from the Union's actions serve as proof of the Union's intentions to deliberately hurt the company, and that the Port of Gothenburg has lost 7% of its market shares due to the stoppages. The Union states that it stands prepared to take further measures.
