Sweden: Port of Gothenburg could be affected by new work stoppages
Dagens Industri, 27 Feb 2017, online:-
The Swedish Dockworkers Union (Svenska Hamnarbetarförbundet) has announced that it has received approval form its members to resume work stoppages, unless negotiations with Swedish port operator APM Terminals improve for the better. Peter Annerback, president of the Dockworkers Union, states that other potential measures include sympathy strikes on a global scale and blockades, and that APM Terminals has refused to even discuss the core issues of the ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, Henrik Kristensen, CEO of APM Terminals in Gothenburg, states that the company hopes to reach an end to the conflict via continued dialogue between all involved parties and the Swedish National Mediation Office (Medlingsinstitutet). Annerback further states that a work stoppage could commence in at least two weeks' time.
