The Port of Halland (Hallands Hamnar) reports that it exported about 980,000 cubic metres of sawwood in 2016, an increase by about 60% from the estimated 600,000 cubic metres exported in 2011. This marks the Port the largest of its kind in Sweden with regard to forestry products. So far in 2017, the trend seems to continue, as exports for the first two months of the year indicate a 12% increase compared to 2016. Port CEO Björn Alvengrip states that continuous investments from the Port's customers have ensured a strong market position for forestry, which in turn has made the Port an increasingly important logistics player for the industry.
