Sweden: Railway punctuality goal is not likely attained by 2020
Svenska Dagbladet, 25 Jan 2017, online:-
A report by Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) shows that the Swedish railway will not likely attain its punctuality goal of 95% of trains being in time by 2020. In 2016, 90.1% of trains arrived on time, thus a maximum of five minutes later than expected. In terms of goods trains, only 77% arrived in time. This is due to problems with rails, changing of contact lines and, above all, due to unauthorised employees who come close to the lines. The Transport Administration will continue investing SEK 13bn (EUR 1.37bn USD 1.47bn) a year to improve the situation.
