The Marine division in UK-based group Rolls-Royce has entered into an agreement with Swedish shipping company Stena Line concerning the development of the first intelligent awareness system in Stena Line. According to Rolls-Royce Marine, the system will make vessel operations safer, simpler an more efficient. The system will be based on bundled data from various sensors in existing maritime systems including radar and automatic identification systems (AIS). Rolls-Royce expects the new technology to be available for use before the end of 2017.
