Sweden: Transport association welcomes crime prevention programme
Transportnet.se, 28 Mar 2017, online:-
The Swedish government has recently presented a national crime prevention programme entitled "Tillsammans mot brott" (Together against crime). The initiative has been well received by the Swedish Association of Road Transport Companies (Sveriges Åkeriföretag) as security issues is of high priority in the association. Head of communications Erika Svanström says that more powerful efforts are needed in order to counteract crimes in which truck drivers are attacked in various ways with the objective of stealing the cargo. This includes an increase in the number of police officers in traffic. Terrorism is also a concern since trucks have been used in a number of previous terrorist attacks in Europe.
