Latvia: Cargo turnover of Freeport of Ventspils down 16.4% in 2016

The cargo turnover of Latvia's Freeport of Ventspils totalled 18.8mn tons in 2016, which was 3.7mn tons (16.44%) less than in 2015. The volume of oil products and coal shipped via the port decreased markedly, while the volume of RORO cargos, cast iron, iron ore, and timber increased steadily. Ventspils Naftas Terminals reloaded 7.5mn tons of cargo in 2016 (down 22%), followed by Ventspils Tirdzniecibas Osta with 2.3mn tons (down 18%), Ventbunkers with 2.1mn tons (down 30%), Baltic Coal Terminal with 1.5mn tons (down 18%), Ventall Terminals with 674,000 tons (down 46%), Ventplac with 478,000 tons (up 11%), Ventspils Grain Terminal with 396,000 tons (down 25%), Ventamonjaks with 390,000 tons (down 19%), Kalija Parks with 380,000 tons, Eurohome Latvija with 341,000 tons, Ventamonjaks Serviss with 191,000 tons (up 3%), and Overseas Estates with 17,000 tons.
