Sweden: Proposed changes in truck driving regulations
Svensk Åkeritidning, 04 May 2017, online:-
The Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) has proposed a number of changes in regulations for truck drivers in road transport companies. The agency has proposed a more flexible and balanced regulatory framework concerning working and resting hours for drivers. A more proportional sanction system has also been proposed which includes gradually increasing fines for more serious regulation breaches. This means that fines for less serious breaches will be reduced compared to current levels, while fines for serious breaches will be increased. Furthermore, the agency proposes a lowering of the maximum fine from 10% to 1% of the annual turnover. The maximum fine in numbers will be increased from SEK 200,000 (EUR 20,676.37 USD 22,741.94) to SEK 800,000.
